"A gracious woman retaineth honour; and strong men retain riches." Proverbs 11:16
Here's another lady to follow...a gracious woman.
Let's take a look at the life of Abigail (I Samuel 25). As I study the life of Abigail, there are many qualities we need to have in our life as Abigail had.
1. Kindness
Even though her husband, Nabal, was a selfish, rude mannered man--Abigail was still known to be a kind lady. How can we apply this to our lives? Spread the love of Jesus and make sure we start in our home, no matter what our circumstances may be.
2. Generous
Abigail gathered a large supply of food and went to meet David. Do we see someone in need? Do something!!! It doesnt' take something BIG--just do something!! Proverbs 31:20 says "She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy."
3. Defend our husband as Abigail did Nabal
Personally, I'd rather have someone make a comment about me (true or false) than about my husband or our children. Talk about me all you want, but don't say anything about the rest of my family.
4. Humility
Abigail had humility when she tried to undo the mistakes Nabal had made. I Peter 5:5b "...for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble."
Do we find ourselves as ladies who are kind, generous, ready to defend our husband (as well as those in our family), and filled with humility? Let's be known as a gracious woman--no matter what our circumstances may be...just as Abigail did.
Next, we'll look at A Prudent Wife
