What's In Your Purse? Part II

6. Band-aid

Proverbs 27:6 "Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful."

Did you realize that true friendship would occasionally involve wounds? Friendship cannot be built on deception of envy. I do believe we must be careful in how we go about confronting our friends. A good key verse to remember when doing so is found in Ephesians 4:15a which says "But speaking the truth in love,". Also, probably a good habit to do first before confronting a friend would be to make sure your heart is where it should be in the Lord.

7. Pictures

Proverbs 25:11 "A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver."

May each word we speak, paint a picture of our Saviour to others who hear us.

8. Sewing Kit

Matthew 19:24 "And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

If we are not careful, riches tend to become an idol. It is hard to have them without trusting in them. What a figure of speech our Lord used--it is clearly impossible for a camel to go through the eye of a needle. Where are our riches? On earth? Or in Heaven?

9. Mirror

James 1:23-24 "For is any be a hearer of the word, adn not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was."

How many times do we look into the mirror? Normally, we go to the mirror to make sure everything is in place or check to see if anything needs to be fixed. It never fails, all I have to do is look into the mirror certain mornings to remind myself I need to get an appointment for a trim BUT until I ACT upon and make an appointment---what I saw in the mirror isn't going to change.

Ladies, we can read the Bible every day, whether casually or because of sense of duty, and never be affected by what we read. We see as we read in the Bible what we ought to be or areas we need to change; yet we quickly forget and live as if we were already perfect. Let's learn to not only look into God's Word to say we've been there for the day (just like the mirror), but also look into it and search to see how we can better ourselves as a Christian. We (myself included) all have areas we could improve upon.
