5. Rest and Relaxation (R&R)

"It is a sign between me and children of Israel for ever: for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed." Exodus 31:17 KJV

What is R & R? It's rest and relaxation...which I am not getting a whole lot of right now. Ladies, with all the rushing around now days, we need to just STOP....................and spend time with the Lord.

A lot of times when people return from a vacation, they will make the statement, "Oh, I just feel so refreshed." Well, spending time with the Lord is refreshing.

Who gives us rest?

Matthew 11:28b "...and I will give you rest."

Matthew 11:29b "...and ye shall find rest unto your souls."

Where do we need to rest?

Ps. 37:7a "...rest in the Lord, and wait patiently."

We need to rest and be refreshed daily by spending time with our Lord through prayer and reading His Word.

Even though our vacations are few and far between (for most of us anyways), spiritually we should be on vacation each and every day.

We need to take a spiritual vacation daily by:

* using God's Word as our map to guide us through every detail of our life

* casting all our burdens upon the Lord---and leave them there!

* going to the Lord for our nourishment and shelter before we begin each day--each day is a new trail. We don't know what a day will hold, but God does.

* view our Bible, God's Word, as a souvenir and read the Bible FAITHFULLY - applying every word to our life.

* remember we can find true rest when we come to the Lord. Spending time with the Lord is refreshing.
