It's All About Birthdays This Week

Well, my husband and I will celebrate our birthdays this week - Friday for hubby and Sunday for me. Yes, our birthdays are close but the sad thing is--I am a year older than he is. (I always remind him he looks older though--that makes me feel good!) I remember when we were dating it was so cute to be the older one…but I’ll have to be honest, I am dreading like the BIG 5 - 0 ! He’ll just be 49 but anyways….he loves me no matter what. That’s a blessing!!!!

Our physical birthdays are special but how much more special are the spiritual birthdays? My spiritual b-day is in October…my husbands in September. You know as we get older there are definitely changes taking place. I can’t eat chocolate endlessly like I use to and keep my figure. (Well, after 4 children my figure has ’disfigured’!) I don’t have the energy I use to. I’ve got more aches and pains…even though I remind myself that I still refuse to get old--at the same time finding my hair coloring appointments are getting more frequent!

Thinking of our spiritual birthdays, there should be changes that take place each year. Each year we should be walking closer to the Lord. If we aren’t, we need to do a serious check-up on our spiritual health. I am so thankful that each year I find myself walking closer to the Lord -- knowing Him more; trusting Him more; confiding in Him more…I just want MORE and MORE of my precious Saviour, Jesus Christ. He’s EVERYTHING I need for any circumstance I may face.

We all have physical birthdays but do you have a spiritual birthday? Has there been a time and place you’ve personally asked the Lord Jesus Christ to come into your heart, forgive you of your sins and to be your PERSONAL Lord and Saviour? I remember that day in my life so vividly that if I were an artist…I could paint a detailed picture of the place where I got saved. I remember leaving church that morning and there being such a peace in my heart. It was a wonderful day! I encourage you to make sure you have 2 birthdays to celebrate in your life and if you don’t, TODAY is the day of salvation!

The Best Gift

Here is how you can be 100% sure that you are going to Heaven…

1. Realize and Acknowledge:

“all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

Yes, all men, including you, have come short of Heaven because of sin.

2. Realize and Acknowledge:

“the wages of sin is death” Romans 6:23

All men die physically, but all men to not die spiritually. You can be born again through Jesus Christ and be saved from the penalty of sin, which is an eternal Hell, a place of “fire and brimstone; which is the second death” (Revelations 21:8)

3. Realize and Acknowledge:

“Christ died for our sins” I Corinthians 15:3

Jesus Christ paid the entire price on the cross for your sin. God set the price on sin, which was a perfect sacrifice, and then God Himself gave His own Son to pay the price.

4. Realize and Acknowledge:

“the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” Romans 6:23

God offers you freely His gift of eternal life. This gift is yours by believing in a risen Christ who arose on the third day and is alive forever more.

5. Realize and Acknowledge:

“whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” Romans 10:13

Whosoever means YOU! If you by simple faith will trust in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ for your soul’s salvation, you can be 100% sure that you are going to Heaven.

Nothing else will do…not church membership, not baptism, not confirmation, not communion. None of these things can save us from sin. ONLY JESUS CHRIST!

6. Confess and Ask:

Why not pray and ask the Lord to forgive you of your sins and come into your heart to be your personal Lord and Saviour? Don’t wait til tomorrow…we aren’t promised tomorrow. Today is the day!!!!
