The Gift Of Church Family

We have heard it said, and know it to be true, the church is not a building, the church is me and you!

Before I got saved I want to say I had friends but they definately didn't encourage me in a Godly direction. After salvation, I KNEW they were NOT true friends. There was a time I felt like I had no one. My old friends thought I was 'weird' after I got saved. At the same time, I wasn't as faithful as I should've been to church so I was robbing myself of being able to get to know Godly friends. After my husband got saved and we both became faithful to ALL church services and involved in ministries, we met others and had a church family to whom we could go to and fellowship with.

We are SO blessed to have the church family we have. Since our oldest daughter was diagnosed with Crohn's disease, it seems a service doesn't pass that someone doesn't say, "How's your daughter doing?" "We're still praying for her." What a comfort! I am sure I've shared this story before but I am going to share it again so if you've read it in previous post skip this part :-)

Upon the onset of finding out she had Crohns and beginning medication, she began to have these headaches where she'd grab her head and just scream out so loud she was in so much pain. In one weekend, we had her to the ER 3 times. Each time they'd come with up nothing and say try this. Well, it ended up we had to take her right before the Sunday evening service. My husband called the church I believe and asked them to please begin to pray for her. Of course, we have no immediate family here in the area -- and though our church family had offered to watch our other girls so I could go be with her too in the ER -- I felt it best, beings we had a small baby --for me to stay home. That was so hard. I wanted to be there with her. What brought great comfort though was the MANY phone calls I got...even during the church service. Some had slipped out to call me to make sure I was okay. What a blessing!

Ladies, if you don't have a church family...you need to begin to look for a good Bible believing church and get involved. There is NOTHING like having a wonderful church family. I think of the song: I'm so glad I'm a part of the family of God!! I am SO GLAD I'm a part of the family of God and that GOD has blessed our family with a WONDERFUL church family!

I thank God EVERY DAY for the local church! And I'm so thankful that your local church has been such a great encouragement to you and your precious family.
