My Grandpa Seems To Be Close To "Going Home"

I have a special request, please pray for our family as my grandpa - my last grandparent that is alive - seems to be failing. They've called Hospice in for help and he's not really wanting to eat or anything. I sure wish I could see him one last time but distance won't allow that. As I was thinking about how God allows opportunities and His ways are perfect, this summer my husband had to leave and go out of town for 3 weeks. We definately didn't want that but that is how it worked out. I ended up going home to stay with my parents and had the opportunity to drive a couple more hours and see my grandpa. We were able to get him out and take him to a real beautiful park while the kids played and we laughed. What an opportunity. Last Christmas, he told us that would be his last Christmas. Then the other day while my parents were visiting, he gave them an anniversary card -- always faithful in his card giving for all occasions -- and said that would be the last one he would give them.

Oh, it's a sad time but at the same time as I was reflecting on the past, I thought about my grandma being up in Heaven just awaiting his arrival. What a joyous moment for them. My desire would be to spend one more Christmas with him but also knowing he's suffering with colon cancer and leukemia I KNOW he'd be better off with our Lord and Saviour where there will be no pain, no suffering, no sorrow...we have something to look forward to and unless the Lord intervenes, my grandpa will be experiencing all those wonderful things that await us that are still here on earth. Isn't it wonderful to know the Lord? If you don't know the Lord, YOU can KNOW Him. If you'd like to know more about becoming saved and knowing Christ, please post a comment (which are monitored so they go through me first), I'll contact you via email.

The other day our oldest daughter asked me why people wait til they are older to get serious about God. (What a tough one) I explained to her that the older you get, the shorter your life is going to be. Older people begin to think about their eternity as their days are growing shorter. But even as young people - age 8, 15, 22, 36, 47....- we need to think about where we would spend eternity! We aren't guaranteed life til we are 80+ years old. I sure wish I would've gotten serious about the Lord earlier than when I did. I could've saved myself a lot of heartache. AND...the Lord IS coming back some day...it could even be today...ARE YOU READY???????
