Shovel - Don’t Shovel Out Dirt About Others (GOSSIP)
Proverbs 16:28 “A forward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.”
Proverbs 17:9 “He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeated a matter separateth very friends.”
Proverbs 10:18b “…and he that uttered a slander, is a fool.”
Proverbs 18:8 “The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.”
Proverbs 20:19 “He that goeth about as a talebearer revealed secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.”
Proverbs 26:20 “Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.”
Isn’t it so easy to repeat things others have told us? We act as if we are on a secret mission to expose a matter or person that should not be repeated. I always try to remember that I really don’t want people going around talking about me and spreading things that don’t have no business being spread. I am sure we’ve all played the game where you start out with a saying and whisper it in the next person ears til the last person here’s the ‘secret’ message. What always happens…even if everyone has perfect hearing? The ‘secret’ message is so distorted and twisted…and that’s the way gossip goes along. Everyone adds a little extra ‘juice’ to the ‘story’ to make it more enticing. Probably what you are hearing isn’t even the REAL story.
Tomorrow we will look at: Rake - Don't Rake Others "over the coals"
