Part II So Much In So Little Verse

The last part of this verse in Romans 12:12 says "Continuing instant in prayer"

As a wife, mother of four children, home schooling, involvement in ministries and just the daily 'chores' of life...if I don't spend time the beginning part of my day in pray (whether it be 5 minutes or 15 minutes)...I am guaranteed to have a troublesome day. When I spend time in prayer, my day goes so much smoother.

I'd like to share a poem I have in a book (author unknown):

I got up early one morning
And rushed right into the day;
I had to much to accomplish
That I didn't have time to pray.
Problems just tumbled about me
And heavier came each task;
"Why doesn't God help me?" I wondered.
He said, "But you didn't ask."
I wanted to see the beauty,
But the day toiled on, gray and bleak;
I wondered why God didn't show me.
He said, "But you didn't seek."
I tried to come into God's presence;
I used all my keys at the lock.
God gently and lovingly chided,
"My child, you didn't knock."
I woke up early this morning
And paused before entering the day.
I had so much to accomplish
That I had to take time to pray.

We do ourselves a great disservice when we neglect to pray. We make time for everything else, don't we?

What does prayerlessness bring us? It brings us doubts, fears, and we live in defeat as a Christian.

What does prayer bring us? Prayer brings power to our lives and peace to our hearts.

I love the verse in Isaiah 26:3 which says, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." Is your mind stayed on the Lord?

Fellowshipping with God through prayer (and God's Word) is the farthest thing from people's minds. We are so focused on material possessions, looking for what we can gain in this world (which is only temporary), fitting in with the world (just so we don't look or be too different), and keeping up with everyone else. We don't have time, nor do we remember the importance of prayer--until--all the 'earthly matters' start to crumble and not go our way. THEN...we fall on our knees and cry out for help.

Our prayer life should be continual, not sporadic.

Ephesians 6:18 says, "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;"

I Thes. 5:17 "Pray without ceasing"

We need to have a continual attitude to pray. Be a prayer warrior and look what the Lord will do. Prayers will be answered, if only we will take the time to pray.

This little verse with only 10 words out of Romans has so much for us to learn and grow by as Christians. Let's remember to rejoice in the hope that we have even in the midst of our trails; be patient in our tribulations and take the time to seek out what the Lord would have us to learn through them; and continually be in prayer.
