Oh, how I wish it were vacation time....but not this year...hopefully next year. It seems everyone is going on a lovely vacation right now. When we take vacations, we usually have a plan:
* a destination
* number of days to stay
* snacks
* clothes needed
Most of us just don't jump in our vehicles and decide to drive and stay away for a few days without some preparation. For the path of life, we must make some preparations as well.
What do we think about when we hear the word 'vacation'?
1. Map
If we go through life without a guide, we are going to get lost. Let's be sure we are going in the right direction spiritually...in Jesus' way!
John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." All roads don't lead to heaven...our good works won't get us to heaven (Is. 64:6a "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our unrighteousnessess are as filthy rags;"; church attendance; trying to live a sinless life...which no one can do I John 1:10 "If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.". Let's be certain our map is of Jesus' way...."no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
2. Luggage
Every time we go on vacation, my husband tells me I don't need to pack so much. So each time I try not to but I think I end up packing more. Ladies, if we carry extra baggage (burdens) around as we travel through our daily lives, we will become exhausted. Ps. 55:22a "Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee;" Matthew 11:28-30 "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
When we go on vacation, we try to not take extra baggage. Same with life, leave the extra baggage (burdens) with the Lord.
