God's Word - Rewarding

Rewarding - Oh, I can’t wait to see the stretch of bright pink and white flowers across the front of the house in a few weeks amongst the fresh pine needles that will be so bright, beautiful and welcoming. Hanging above all that is my new flag the girls got me for Mother’s Day! Oh, I forgot to add that my oldest daughter, after her infusion treatment last Saturday for her Crohn‘s disease, went shopping for me for Mother’s Day. I have learned the trick, ladies. Most men aren’t really into ‘shopping‘ for their wife…beyond a gift card or something. (mine isn‘t anyways but he will take me shopping…I guess that‘s safe for them because we‘d be offended either way if the clothes were too big or too small, right?)

Throughout the week, Destiny kept asking me what I’d like for Mother‘s Day. I began to tell her some inexpensive things (knowing our budget at the moment really didn’t even allow for a 50 cent candy bar---being a Hershey with almonds my favorite)! My husband told me she got her little notebook out after they left the hospital and even had an ad to AC Moore (with items circled for me) She said she wanted to go shopping for mommy for Mother‘s Day (HOW SWEET). Of course, I am sure he was thrilled cause she could do all the work and would enjoy doing it as well (except when she asked for the debit card) She got everything on the list I gave here, plus one extra thing. I told him from now on….since I now know how it works…my items will get bigger and my list will get longer if he fulfills all that‘s on her list for me (That‘s greedy isn‘t it…but it was a Mother‘s Day I‘ll remember) Not because of the number of things I got, but the story that goes along with it.

The other day the girls were talking about walking on streets of gold in Heaven and how awesome that would be. I don‘t think anyone can even begin to imagine what Heaven will be like. I don‘t believe our tiny imaginations can even stretch that far. When we begin to face hard times, remember what is awaiting us in Heaven. Whatever comes our way will be worth it when we see our Saviour‘s face. I can‘t help but think of the song “It Will Be Worth Is All“ --- It will be worth it all, when we see Jesus. Life‘s trials will seem so small, When we see Christ. One glimpse of His dear face, All sorrow will erase, So bravely run the race…TIL WE SEE CHRIST!

After the neighbor ordeal was over, I will have to admit I just came in the house and cried. My heart was broke that these ladies could not see their need of the Saviour. My girls were upset from what they heard as well. They don’t understand why people don’t want anything to do with church or God. Because of what happened on Sunday, on Monday during our devotional time for school, I told them how Jesus was persecuted and mocked and people didn’t like Him. One day, those ladies will regret every word they spoke to me “I don’t want any part of going to church; I’ll never step foot in a church’!

During our devotion, I brought out the following Scriptures: Matthew 5:44 “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.” John 15:20 “Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.” Do you want to know what is still amazing though? When one of the neighbors needs prayer for something, she’ll call me and share her burden. I told the girls---no matter what---we still have a responsibility to pray for them! Pray changes things and changes PEOPLE!

That Monday I just pulled the song out “I’m On The Winning Side” and sang it as loud as I could. The assurance that even though those words said to me were hurtful…what a day I have awaiting for me upon the Lord’s return. I am so THANKFUL that I KNOW I am on the WINNING SIDE!!!!!!!!!! It will be so rewarding to see my Saviour’s face!
