Just The Simple Things

Since we hardly take a REAL vacation, we tried to make this extra special for the girls so we went out on the limb to do a few things...and we'll be paying for them for a little bit. Near the end of our vacation, we asked them what they enjoyed the most! Here was their response:

(our oldest daughter) I loved it when we went to play Putt Putt and we got to dip our toes in the creek running throughout the Putt Putt place!...that was pretty inexpensive!

One of them mentioned seeing the WonderWorks building (I think that was the name)--- anyways the building that looks like a building upside down. The girls loved driving past it...that was FREE!

They also enjoyed playing at this nice playground outside an outlet mall...FREE again!

They enjoyed picking wild flowers near an outlet we went to!

There was something else...drawing a blank...but it was FREE or inexpensive. Our biggest expenditure was the aquarium...for which they did enjoy while we were there but I was just amazed at how the simple things really stood out to them. I joked with my husband that the next time we go over...we'll not spend nearly as much if all they want to do is play in a playground outside an outlet mall (FREE), dip their toes in the creek water at the PUTT PUTT place (very inexpensive), keep driving by the Wonderworks upside down building...it really brought to mind that it's NOT all about SPENDING MONIES and purchasing the BIG ITEMS for children for them to enjoy themselves...it's just those simple things.

Today we went walking through the neighborhood a little and they found some wild daisies so they pulled them up--root and all--and came home and planted them in their designated flower bed. They had the time of their life out their getting dirty.

Remember the SIMPLE THINGS...
