Back Home Again

Well, we returned home yesterday from attending my grandfather's funeral. We are a little more than exhausted but the time change certainly helped out in recovering our lost sleep from the traveling. I am so thankful we were able to attend the funeral---thanks to my wonderful parents who took care of our travel expense--a trememdous blessing. He looked so 'natural' and just like grandpa. All the grandkids and greatgrandkids went together and got a bouquet of roses. At the final viewing at the end of the funeral service, each of us grandchildren layed roses inside his casket. What a precious memory.

This is just such a sweet story and just like my grandma--who passed away in 2000. She struggled with cancer and so she knew she didn't have much time. She wanted to make sure grandpa was all prepared for his funeral and so she got a suit, tie (not sure what else) and placed it inside a designated suitcase and told one of her daughters where it was. She wanted to make sure - even after her death - that grandpa was taken care of. I pretty well held myself together up until that point and it was just a reminder of what an outstanding lady my grandma was. While home we were talking about the past, and none of us could ever remember my grandma EVER raising her voice...I definatly don't hold that record unfortunately.

I want to thank each of you who have let us know you are praying for us. It's always hard seeing someone leave, but we have a HOPE that we will one day see him again. What a day that will be!!!
