Of course, yesterday was Columbus Day so my hubby had the day off...what a blessing. I just thank the Lord for the job he has now. It's been such a blessing and he's just enjoying it so much. So we spruced up the yard; took the trash off; I cleaned the house thoroughly while the girls played outside. It was just a nice day to lounge around the house and get things done.
We also had family pictures taken yesterday as well. That's when all the 'fun' began--the photo shoot itself was no problem but the interesting events that occurred beforehand. I was in the shower and all of a sudden the light went out. I just thought someone turned it off. NO...my husband was like "Did you hear that explosion?" I said "No!" Well, something happened. Our neighbors came out on their porches and were like "Do you all have any electricity?" So my husband drove up the road where he'd seen the electric truck at a new home they are doing...no problems there. As he came back into the entrance of the subdivion he said you could tell there was something wrong cause on the main pole something was hanging. So of course we called the electric company to hear it wouldn't be on till 5 p.m. Okay, we have to leave at 4 p.m. to go get pictures done. Of course, for men they can live without electricity---I had my hair to dry, the girls hair to dry, my hair to curl, the girls hair to touch up with the curling iron...what was I going to do? So I thought, I'll go to the church and take the 3 older girls with me and we'll get ready there. So I had everything packed and was getting ready to walk out the door when our backyard neighbor returned home--she's a very sweet elderly lady!!! Her electricity was on so I was able to walk across the backyard and go get fixed up. What a crazy day!!!!!!! BUT...thank the Lord I was able to do all those things...even with the unexpected circumstances. My heart just breaks for a family who their mother (who is only 35-40 years old) is laying in the hospital just dying with cancer. I don't know the family personally but they are connected to our churches Christian school. I know she has one as young as 4 or 5 and other children...can you imagine? I am so thankful God has allowed me the strength and life to enjoy having a good family day together---even with its ups and downs. My downs are no where close to what that families 'downs' are. PRAISE GOD for giving you breath, and for the life He's given you today!
