Getting The Most Out Of Lemons - Part I

We are all probably familiar with the phrase "When life gives you lemons--make lemonade." I am not fond of just sucking on a plain ol' lemon. Now our girls like it when we go to a restaurant and they get a lemon wedge (even though I won't allow them too after someone told me they are handles by so many people etc). I prefer them in a dessert or used for some good ol' sweet lemonade on those hot summer days--like we are having right now.

I found some tips to Putting The Squeeze On Lemons! I want us to take these simple tips and apply them to our lives when the 'lemons' come our way!

Tip #1
Before juicing, press down firmly and roll the lemon on the kitchen counter to break up the pulp before juicing!

Do you ever feel like you've just been pressed down firmly and rolled on? How about those times when one trial after another comes your way? There's the saying--"When it rains, it pours"--ever been there?

Maybe it's dealing with:

- an illness (personally or with a loved one)
- financial difficulty
- a wayward spouse or child
- a friend - or you thought they were your friend and now they've just turned on you for no apparent reason

Just like a lemon needing to be pressed down firmly and rolled to break up the pulp for better juicing--we need to be pressed down and rolled to mold us and make us into what God wants us to be.

I'm sure if that lemon could talk, it would probably rather not be treated in this way but we know in the end it's for the lemons good for effective juicing.

I Peter 5:7 "That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ;"

II Corinthians 12:9-10 "And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong."

Tomorrow we'll look at Tip # 2!!!!!!! I'll also be posting some lemon recipes to my Simple Cookn' blog as well.
