O Taste And See....

Ladies, is there anything better (except chocolate of course) than freshly picked strawberries? I don't believe there is.

This week I have made 2 strawberry cakes (1 already devoured and the other one in the freezer)! I just make the cake in two 9 inch round cake pans and use just white cake mix (I do substitute milk instead of water for box recipe....gives it a better taste I think). Then for the icing I just throw it together using cool whip; cream cheese; powdered sugar and a little vanilla. Oh you talking about delicious. It is so good and so refreshing--we won't discuss the calories though!

I've frozen some and as of today we took the girls to experience their first strawberry pickn'. It was so enjoyable...and now we have MORE strawberries. The girls are begging me to get the Hershey Kiss Fondue pot out so we'll have to see :-)

Ps. 34:8a says, "O taste and see that the Lord is good:" I remember sharing a devotion with the ladies at our county jail a few years back on how people will try everything - drugs, alcohol, compulsive spending on high price items, being promiscious - and after trying everything else THEN they may turn to the Lord. If they could only taste and see that the Lord is good FIRST how much heartache would they save themselves? They wouldn't be disappointed! They wouldn't go away empty! They wouldn't be constantly searching for something to fulfill them---ALL they NEED is SOMEONE--Jesus Christ! He's ALL we need! In Jesus Christ we will find fulfillment, joy, happiness, peace, and completeness and MORE!

As Christian ladies, we have a responsibility to share the news of how good the Lord is. We've 'tasted' His goodness. Sometimes it is so easy to find ourselves forgetting how the Lord is so good to us. We get so busy with the hustle and bustle of life that we forget all His wonderful benefits. Ps. 68:19 says "Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah." Ps. 103:2 says, "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:" ( I encourage you to read through the whole chapter of Ps. 103)

I encourage you to begin a prayer journal. It doesn't have to be anything fancy but some place you can go and write down your prayer request. Then when those request are answered, put the date and write a short reminder to yourself of how blessed you feel to know that God STILL hears and ANSWERS prayer. We all have days we are discouraged but if we have a journal where we can just remind ourselves of the goodness of God...what encouragement.

Second of all, I encourage you to begin a blessing journal. Don't just list the BIG blessings, but ALL blessings. Share with others how the Lord has answered your prayers or met your needs. When I hear others share their blessings, it encourages me to KEEP PRAYING to NOT GIVE UP because I serve an awesome God who STILL answers prayers.

Spend time today just tasting and seeing that the Lord IS good. If you are like me, I can just look at that strawberry cake and say a BIG YUMMY---We can look to the Lord and KNOW that He is good. If you are saved, that's reason enough to know and to have tasted of HIS goodness. We now have a home in Heaven with our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. If you have never accepted Christ as your Saviour, I pray you'll do so today.

So everytime you taste of a fresh, juicy, sweet strawberry---think about how the Lord is so good to you!
