My Cup Runneth Over With Joy

Our youngest daughter, who is in K-4, has been learning a new song in class (well, on DVD -- as we homeschool)

When my cup runneth over with joy
When my cup runneth over with joy
I find it easy to pray
And to sing all the day
When my cup runneth over with joy

BUT...WHEN....my cup is all empty and dry
When my cup is all empty and dry
I find it easy to pout
And to stomp all about
When my cup is all empty and dry

This morning though...she (our four year old) was singing it like this

When my cup runneth over with coffee
When my cup runneth over with coffee...and on she went.

I got a good laugh out of that because she does LOVE coffee. Yes, I know...she is FOUR years old and coffee will stunt her growth (sorry I don't believe that) If coffee did stunt our growth ladies...we'd just drink coffee instead of dieting right? or I would anyways! I guess frapp's would work the same as coffee...or atleast for my benefit I will say they would. :-)

Ps. 23:5b "...my cup runneth over"

How can WE keep our CUP running over with JOY?

1. Love One Another

John 15:11-12 "These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. This is my commandment That ye love one another, as I have loved you." KJV

Ladies, some people are just HARD to love BUT if we want our cup to overflow with JOY...then we MUST show them CHRIST love even if we have to work at it. The ones hardest to love...are the ones that need love the MOST!

2. Song In Our Heart

Ps 66:1 "Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands"

What's your favorite song? I can't pinpoint ONE particular song that I could say is a favorite. BUT I do have songs that come to me when I need them most. Why? Because I FILL my mind with good, GODLY music. I remember the 'worlds' music being some pretty depressing stuff when I use to listen to it. I encourage you to get some good GODLY music so that when hard times come, or you feel alone, afraid, don't know what's going to happen around the bend...you'll have filled your mind throughout other days with GOOD, GODLY music so they'll come to your mind when you need them.

Make sure your CUP runneth over with GOOD, GODLY music.

3. Pray For Others

James 5:16b "...pray one for another..."

WOW! If you want a cup that runneth over with JOY...get yourself off of me, myself and I...and PRAY FOR OTHERS! Ladies, and I am sure some of you are carrying some pretty heavy burdens right now, but a lot of times we get so caught up in our problems that we just empty our cup of JOY and fill it will grumbling, complaining, ungratefulness, jealousy, envy and MORE that will EMPTY our cup of JOY!

I say all the time, on Wednesday nights at our church when prayer request are given (or any service for that matter), I just can't help but sit there in my seat and thank GOD for HIS goodness to me. GOD IS SO GOOD and when we think we have it SO bad...think of someone to pray for. That will certainly allow your cup to begin to fill up with JOY when you think about how GOD has blessed you.

4. Read Our Bibles DAILY

Prov. 30:5a "Every word of God is pure..."

I am not a NEWS person. My husband loves FOX news. I really just don't like the news because it's all a bunch of lies to me. You can't watch the news and KNOW that it's 100% PURE! BUT you can read GOD'S WORD and KNOW that every word is PURE. What He has promised HE WILL DO! WOW...what a way to have your cup running over with JOY! Fill your life with GOD's WORD!!!!

So how's your cup? Is it empty and dry? Are you finding yourself pouting and stomping all about? or is your CUP RUNNING over with JOY and you find it easy to pray (and to give PRAISE if I might add that) and to SING all the day? If your cup IS empty and dry, the Lord can certainly change that. If you've never accepted Christ as your Saviour, then there is NO better way to start having your CUP running over with JOY. Christ will bring a JOY no one else can bring. Trust HIM today!
