Part IV - Find Joy In This "ALL" Of Life Because This Too Shall Pass
Someone once said, "It's only a snap of the finger from diapers to tuxedos and wedding gowns."
Psalm 39:4-6 says "Lord, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am. Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah. Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them."
Psalm 90:12a says "So teach us to number our days..."
In the midst of the 'ALL' of our daily life, have we taken time to number our days? If you're a mother, you realize the vast responsibility of fulfilling that role. One woman expressed it this way:
(quote) I seldom feel like much of an adventurer - standing in the kitchen, pouring cereal into bowls, refilling them, handing out paper towels when the ineveitable cry comes: "Uh oh, I spilled." But sometimes at night the thought will strike me: There are three small people here, breathing sweetly in their beds, whose lives are for the moment in our hands. I might as well be at the controls of a moon shot, the mission is so grave and vast." (end quote)
Oh the mission of motherhood is so vast but then we must bring to remembrance 2 Corinthians 12:9a "And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness."
Have you ever seen someone illustrate the brevity of our life by blowing bubbles? Our girls LOVE bubbles--but they certainly don't last for any length of time. It's like if you blink, they are gone. Our life is just like a vapor. James 4:14b says "For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away."
If you're like me, sometimes I find myself wondering:
- will the diaper phase EVER pass?
- will the 2 year old "adventureous" days pass?
OH YES...they will pass and before you and I know it:
- the endless laundry for 6 will one day dwindle to just the 2 of us - my hubby and I!
- I'll be back to preparing meals for only 2!
- Family devotions will take on a different scenerio: No, Jesus Loves Me This I Know, or This Little Light Of Mine, or the 'endless' prayer request for every little precious detail of life that young ones can think of -- NO, it will just be my hubby and I having devotions.
Learn to CHERISH THE MOMENT! Capture the JOY in each moment for that moment will soon quicly pass!
Learn to FIND the JOY in the midst of it ALL!!!!!

Such a reminder of enjoying each day as a gift from God...we are so busy rushing, that we often don't take the time to enjoy the journey. Great post.
PS..just for reference, I am not Ms. Barbara...just Barbara...after all we are "sisters" in Christ (despite my increasing age)and that comes without titles. Thanks for your very kind comments.
