"Purpose" Article From Grandma's Bible

Here is another article that was in my grandma's Bible. The title is "Purpose"

The person without a purpose in life is like a ship at sea without a rudder. So have a purpose -- an ambition to achieve something worthwhile. Work with all your might toward this end and success is sure to come. Mitchell said, "Ambition is the spur that makes men struggle with destiny. It is heaven's own incentive to make purpose great and achievement greater."

Having a purpose in life gives one something to work for. This is an incentive to do the job well. I pity the girl who just drifts through school without any ambition or purpose in life. She goes because she has to go. The girl who is working toward a goal strives to make good grades and purposes to do her best to reach her ambition in life. This very thing makes her work a pleasure instead of drudgery.

Daniel purposed in his heart the he would not do the thing he knew was wrong even though he was a captive in a foreign land. Joseph determined to live right. Even though tempted by his master's wife, he fled temptation and honored God. This dreamer of dreams in childhood had a purpose in life. David, though but a shepherd lad, had an ambition and purposed to do the right thing.

Ruth chose to go with the people of God. She had an ambition and a noble purpose in life and was highly rewarded for it. Esther purposed to save her people, even at the risk of her life.

All these were young people who came to honor and success because they had worthy ambitions and purposes.

You, too, can do the same, young lady. Take your stand. "Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." Contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the sains." Have a purpose in life. Be ambitious for something that is worthwhile. It has been said that "Ambition is the germ from which all growth of nobleness proceeds."

Hope each of you have a wonderful day!
