Well, if you want to get discouraged...just read the news headlines---BUT if you want to be encouraged, read your Bible! I just got an email concerning a new 'slogan' they will be placing on buses this CHRISTmas season - "Why believe in God? Just be good for goodness sake!" Sort of has the tune to "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" song! How sad...this slogan is ABSOLUTELY unbiblical! "Just being good for goodness sake"...is a 'works' salvation and the BIBLE NEVER speaks on 'working' our way to Heaven. Eph. 2:8-9 says "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." How much plainer can you get? "Not of works, let any man should boast." If it's all about 'being good' then, why did Christ die on the cross? So many people are deceived in this area. I am so thankful the Lord brought us down a road and led us to a TRUE Bible-believing church. Don't believe the lies of this world that are from Satan himself---trust in the Lord and in HIS Word! If you've never accepted Christ as your Saviour, please read the following. You will not get to Heaven by keeping the Ten Commandments, doing Communion, doing good to all those around you, never telling a lie, or any of those other 'works'...there is ONLY ONE WAY and that is through our Lord Jesus Christ. One of the verses I like to show people when this comes up -- because there are many who are depending on what THEY can do and they are deceived -- Isaiah 64:6a says "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags"
