2 T's

The other day the girls were bickering back and forth just over silly things so I told them to get their Bible's and come to the living room. I began to read Prov. 15:1 "A soft answer turneth away wrath but grievious words stir up anger" but the Lord just kept bringing my attention to Proverbs 15:6 "In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble."

For those of us who were reared in a godly home can testify to the truth of the first line of this verse..."In the house of the righteous is much treasure:'. I am thankful my parents faithfully took me to church; prayed before meals; the Bible just wasn't a book but THE BOOK. I remember as a child going to Florida to visit my grandparents and every night we'd all gather in the living room, get on our knees and pray. Now my husband and I try to faithfully read a portion of God's Word and pray every night with our girls---except church nights.

If we desire to have a righteous home, we will give our children much treasure by being faithful to the house of God, in our witness, prayer life, family devotions and our service to the Lord through various ministries. We are helping with our Young at Hearts ministry and as we get excited about being a part, so do our girls.

The later part of the verse says "...but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble." Have you noticed the 2 T words - TREASURE AND TROUBLE? I think all of us would agree we desire treasure over trouble in our homes. In order to have "much treasure" it will take much effort and work on our part -- with the Lord's help of course. But for there to be trouble--that seems to be an easy given if we allow Satan to distract us, discourage us, get our focus off what's important.

Let's desire to keep the trouble out and work to have much treasure in our homes.

Proverbs 15:6 "In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble."
